Wazir Khan Mosque (assembled 1634)

Wazir Khan mosque was worked in 1634 by Shaikh Ilm-ud-commotion Ansari, Viceroy of Punjab under Shah Jahan. Ansari hailed from humble starting points in the town of Chiniot in the Jhang region of the Punjab. He contemplated medication under Hakim Dawi and was employed by the Mughal court as the individual doctor of Prince Kuram, the future Shah Jehan. The youthful ruler was so taken with Ansari's skill that he granted him with the title Wazir Khan in 1620. Wazir is a title signifying "Pastor" in Urdu.

Wazir Khan procured an enormous plot of land in Lahore limited by the Delhi Gate toward the east and the Lahore Fort toward the west. He established the mosque that presently bears his name on the site of the burial chamber of Syed Muhammed Ishaq (otherwise called Miran Badshah), a holy person who had relocated from Iran in the thirteenth century. Wazir Khan likewise settled a bathhouse (Shahi Hammam) and other business foundations along the way to the mosque whose pay was planned to guarantee support of the mosque into unendingness. Albeit the bathhouse didn't give as much pay as planned, the marketplace toward the east of the mosque was very fruitful and stays a prospering business sector even to the current day.

The mosque's distinctive structural component is the utilization of minarets at every one of its four corners- - the first run through such a plan was utilized in Lahore. The supplication corridor follows the one-passageway five-sound theme that was first settled in Lahore an age prior at the Maryam Zamani Mosque, which was later to track down its full articulation in the Badshahi Mosque worked by Emperor Aurangzeb 50 years after the fact. A large part of the mosque is built of cut and dressed block embellished with coated tile mosaics.

An inquisitive element of the mosque is the fuse of 22 shops into its ground plan. Arranged on one or the other side of the passageway corridor, these shops structure a marketplace with a block cleared entry in the middle. This business region broadens east past the mosque into the Chowk Wazir Khan (Wazir Khan Square) which stays a lively commerical region to the current day.
